THE WAVE

An existing single storey furniture store needed mid-life makeover and a brand identity for itself. With its façade opening towards the south, the indefinite heating and glare needs to be controlled. The innovative Nuvocotto four petal jail module became the façade’s prime element. The jail cuts the harsh sun at the same time permits the south west wind to penetrate within the building for fresh air ventilation. The jail module is algorithmically arranged to generate a wave, facilitating a depression in air movement forcing it to penetrate inside also the wave decreases the heating of façade, as each module is projected from adjacent module creating a shading effect. The jail forms excellent backdrop for the furniture item display with intermediate planter bed. The wave creates a movement in a stagnant façade making it head turner.
